Check out our organic goat milk fertiliser pellets for moss!
Our pellets are made from full fat unpasteurized goat milk straight from the udder, mixed with red clay and dehydrated at 70 degrees. Our fertiliser pellets are perfect for terrariums, living walls, moss gardens exterior as interior. But of course this is an amazing fertiliser for all plants including roses, vegetables, pot plants etc.
Why is goat milk the best fertiliser for moss and other terrarium plants?
This is our secret to the beautiful moss we grow in our moss nursery, our ferns and succulents and orchids and other rock garden plants, in fact, our whole farm!
Like all plants, moss needs nitrogen, either gleaned from the soil and substrate or from water uptake. If your moss doesn’t get enough nutrients from rainfall or substrate a mild, organic fertilizer, such as one containing lactic acid from goat milk which non-protein nitrogen content is usually 5-8 % of total nitrogen. Signs your moss needs fertilization include spotty growth and poor color.
You will be receiving moss which has been dehydrated for shipping, when she arrives just rehydrate her by spraying water on her, and within seconds she comes back to life.
Do have a look at my other dry moss, lichen and liverwort species for sale and buy a selection, for your terrariums and Paludarium.
Our clay/Alfisols discs are inoculated with Pohlia nutans spores and mother plant which, once wet, will grow after 3 weeks into moss that then connects together into a carpet and spread from there. The benefit of growing from spores is 1- they grow and thrive in the environment, if terrarium or moss garden, or water feature 2- the clay/Alfisols discs can be molded into any shape once wet and will stick to any surface. You can also divide the discs as they are inoculated with thousands of spores. To give the spores the correct substrate 3 discs is equal to 30x30cm of the substrate, you simply mix the clay disc into the substrate and spread it into a 30x30cm carpet.
You will be receiving Pohlia nutans Moss in a package bag in a padded envelope large pieces of moss and a few small ones. Mosses can remain alive even during periods of drought, resuming photosynthesis when moistened again by rain or even fog. All you have to do is follow the video, and spray generously the moss when it looks dry and let it have some sun, no need for full sun which makes them great indoor plants too.
We do Internation post tracking with every order. Your order will be packed safely and I'll send your Internation tracking number so you can follow your order travels to you :)
Pohlia nutans AKA Nodding Thread-moss is rather variable in appearance, shoots are typically 1–2 cm tall, dark to vivid bright green and form patches or tufts.
The upper part of stems is reddish, with brown rhizoids on the lower part of stems. The spearhead shaped leaves are larger (about 4.5 mm long) and more crowded towards the tops
of shoots, and smaller below (about 2.5 mm long) forming beautiful thick carpets.
The nerve ceases just below the leaf tip, and the leaves lack a border.
Short-leaved branches often protrude above the cushions.
Horizontal or pendulous capsules 3 mm long-form frequently have vivid red Setae which vary in length but may be quite long, and bright green capsules which really make them stand out from the crowd. The setae
may persist after the capsules have disappeared.
How To Grow
moss can be grown in a moist terrarium, aquarium, or in small plastic boxes on the windowsill. These locations allow for better-controlled growth conditions and modifications to allow as much expansion as possible. A good source of light and some added CO2 can kick liverworts’ growth rate to an accelerated new level.
The most effective method to cultivate moss is the parent plant should be divided into smaller pieces and then be tied down to a mesh or surface with thread or fishing string. Doing so will ensure that the flora remains attached.
Our Clay discs are inoculated with thousands of spores and shredding parents plants. Your clay disc arrives dehydrated. First rehydrate your disc by placing in a bowl or plastic container and covering it with water, leave it for about 1 hour. You can either use your disc whole or dive her into smaller pieces. She can be squished into cracks in walls or rocks or placed on top, it is advised to push down and hold your disc to its forever place then do not disturb. Do not put the disc under a running water feature as the clay will run off, this will disperse spores everywhere in your terrarium. I the case of Endiviifolia you can sink the dry clay disc directly into your aquarium and allow for rehydration underwater, Endiviifolia is sub aquatic or fully aquatic (although a good light source underwater is necessary.). Do not put the clay disc near the water pump or in strong flow as the clay will runoff.

Historically, three taxonomic bryophyte groups have been recognized and now represent the three main divisions in this group: Marchantiophyta (liverworts), Bryophyta (mosses) and Anthocerotophyta (hornworts). The three main groups have diversified throughout their evolutionary history, making it difficult to identify the specific characters separating these three groups.
The status of bryophytes as the oldest living land plants is widely accepted
