Marcgravia is a genus of vines belonging to the Marcgraviacea family. It comprises 102 described species and of these, only 62 accepted.
They are lianas. It has disticthus leaves, markedly dimorphic, those of the sterile and climbing stems orbicular to suborbicular, very reduced and applied to the substrate, those of the fertile and patent stems much larger, 2 or more times as long as wide. umbelate or short racemose inflorescences; flowers 4-merous; petals fully fused, drooping as a unit at anthesis; stamens 10 to numerous; fertile subapical flowers without nectaries, central (apical) flowers very reduced and generally sterile, with well-developed nectaries.
